FAQ

Do You Treat Children?

Yes, we love children and have tailored our procedures and time allotments to reflect their unique requirements. From general cleanings to oral surgery we know every procedure is stressful to children. We have educated ourselves to help children prepare themselves to mentally face their fears and overcome them themselves. This not only translates into a pleasant dental experience but will spill over into other areas of their lives.

How do I become a patient of Dr. Akman?

Start by calling our clinic at 289.999.9999 and we will set up a new patient appointment. At this appointment we will get to know about you and your dental history as well as any other relevant medical history. A full set of x-rays and inter-oral pictures will be taken. Also we will do a screening test for oral cancer.

What are my payment options?

Payments need to be received directly from you. We will submit forms to insurance companies prior to us starting to do work to ensure that your required procedures are covered.

What payment options do you have?

We accept all major credit cards – Visa, Master Card, American Express as well as debit cards, personal cheques and cash.

What does a checkup involve?

It is recommended that you have a checkup every six months to ensure that any potential problems are caught early on to prevent major work needing to be done. A checkup includes a dental cleaning, fluoride treatment and x-rays. The amount of work done is entirely up to you.

When should my child have their first dental appointment?

The ideal age for children to start seeing his/her dentist is at 3 years. It is often beneficial for children to see a parent receive dental work before actually having work done on them which we encourage. We then encourage the child to sit in the dentist chair and see if we can proceed with an examination.
